The practice

Selected collections and exhibition history: the thinking behind the work.

"I am interested in the places where natural systems and programmed systems become indistinguishable from each other."

With a background in media, communication and programming, I came to jewellery-making through a fascination with pattern - the spirals of sea urchins, the tessellation of cellular structures, the branching of algorithms. My work tries to hold both at once. I was also born in the 90s, so my pieces are sometimes inspired by millenial nostalgia and the early post-internet culture.

Collection "Alike"

Generative pattern, made by hand

Each piece in this series begins as an algorithm - a set of rules for generating cellular pattern - and ends as a decision made by a human hand. Plique-à-jour enamel fills the negative space with colour, making every piece unrepeatable.

Collection "Clipped Memories"

Objects cast from the everyday

I am drawn to the moment an ordinary thing: a childhood hair clip, an insect, a fragment of coastline - stops being overlooked. These pieces cast that moment in sterling silver, so it can be worn.

Data art

A new approach to personal data

Data is quite often used in jewelry - engravings, birthstones, symbols. But I like to go even deeper and analyze larger samples of personal data and use the results in my creations.

III. Custom

A keepsake made for you

Custom work is the most personal thing I make. It begins with a conversation, and ends with an object you will keep for a lifetime.

"Some things cannot be bought ready-made. They need to be made - slowly, together, from something that already carries meaning."

I take a small number of custom commissions each year. Every piece is uniquely designed - there is no catalogue to choose from, only a conversation about what you want this object to hold.

I work with breastmilk, ashes, dog teeth, hair, and any other material that carries personal significance. The material arrives, I treat it with care, and together we decide on a form that will carry it for decades.

I can also make a custom 3D design specially for you, or source and set an unique stone. I work with hot enamel (not "cold enamel" which is basically plastic), that is a durable colorful finish made of real glass - a luxury technique which I would also be happy to use when making a special piece for you.

Breastmilk
Jewellery

Your breastmilk preserved into a stone, set in sterling silver. A symbol of early motherhood, wearable, permanent, yours. And of course your priceless memories that your child will inherit later.

Ash Memorial
Jewellery

Ashes from a person or animal incorporated into a piece made with intention. An act of remembrance you can wear every day.

Dog Teeth &
Animal Keepsakes

Milk teeth, claws, fur - materials from a beloved companion, set into lasting silver so they are never truly gone.

Any Memorial
Object

Something else entirely? If it carries meaning for you, I will find a way to hold it in silver or gold.

Past custom commissions

Step 1

We talk

You write to me by email or on instagram. We arrange a short conversation (no obligation!) to understand what this piece is for and what it needs to hold.

Step 2

We design

I sketch a proposal for you. If you agree, you pay 50% and I start creating.

Step 3 (if applicable)

You send the material

A small amount is all that is needed. I treat it with the care it deserves and confirm when it arrives safely.

Step 4

It arrives

Your precious memory delivered in bespoke packaging. Timeline is typically 4-6 weeks from design approval.

"I would love to hear what you have in mind."

The Artist

Studio
DARKUV

I founded Studio DARKUV as a place where my background in media, communication and programming meets the physical intimacy of metalsmithing. I came to jewellery through a long fascination with pattern: the kind that emerges from natural systems and from computational ones, and the strange territory where they overlap.

After years of self-teaching I enrolled in jewellery school to develop my technical practice. Now I am also a student at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy of Arts in Amsterdam. I work primarily in sterling silver and gold vermeil, using techniques including plique-à-jour enamel, organic casting from natural and found materials, and generative design realised entirely by hand throught 3D ptinting, casting and finishing.

My work has been shown at the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid, the National Museum of Kazachstan and at Munich Jewellery Week. I am always open to conversations with gallerists, curators, and collectors.
